Regent Parrots in almond orchards

Regent Parrots are a threatened species with a highly restricted range that overlaps with intensively managed plantations.  With collaborations and funding support from the Australian Research Council, Select Harvests and Almond board of Australia, Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries, the Mallee Catchment Management Authority, and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, Peter Spooner, Gary Luck and I undertook a series of studies of this bird in this highly modified landscape, working closely with almond producers to work out how to minimise their losses while maximising habitat.
